IAQG > Certification Management
The IAQG Certification Oversight Team monitors global conformance to the 9104-series of standards (i.e. the scheme rules), and supports the achievement of the IAQG’s strategic objectives, the desired outcomes of the scheme, which can be summarised in ensuring a global-harmonized QMS certification scheme for the supply chain bringing value to conformance and performance.
A key activity for the Team is oversight. Oversight has two elements: the mandated oversight and the optional supplementary oversight, both set out in 9104/2.
The ICOT is a data-driven organisation. It uses data from OASIS to analyse all aspects of the scheme performance and outcomes. This includes oversight reports and NCRs, CB audit NCRs, CB performance, auditor performance, etc., and takes action as appropriate to address identified concerns. It also provides analysis and insight to other committees to inform their activities.
The ICOT is the team responsible for IAQG Resolutions. Requests for Resolutions can be submitted by various teams, committees, and the Executive Committee. Approved resolutions are published on the IAQG website and implemented by the affected entities.
Lastly, the ICOT deals with complaints and appeals escalated to the ICOT after going through the chain of complaint/appeal as set out in 9104/1. These can be from auditors, CBs, ABs, AABs, etc. As the penultimate arbiter of complaints and appeals, if the Team cannot resolve an issue, it is escalated to the Executive Committee.
The Team comprises industry representatives from each IAQG Sector (Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific), representatives from the AB and CB community to provide the voice of the IAQG. The International Document Sponsor (IDS) for each of the 9104 standards and 9101 is also required to be a member. The industry representatives are from IAQG Member Companies, so the ownership and decision-making remains with the industry.
Each Sector has its own COT. The Sector COTs manage the same elements as the ICOT for their sectors and report into the ICOT.
